AVI SHANKAR AIN

Biography

Avi Shankar Ain is an artist showing immense promise. His paintings are traditional in form and symbolic, realistic, imaginary and minimalistic images. He specializes in pencil, ink, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic and oil.

Avi Shankar Ain was born in 1982 and was brought up in Dhaka. His appreciation and love of nature is evident in his paintings. He travels extensively to get inspiration for the subjects of his artwork. His upbringing in Dhaka and great affection towards nature is clearly reflected in his work.

Avi Shankar Ain graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Dhaka and later obtained his Masters from the Visva – Bharati University at Santiniketan in India, graduating at the top of his class. He has participated in many exhibitions in the country as well as abroad and has also received significant recognitions for his work. His first solo painting exhibition Serene Dream and Reality was at Alliance Française de Dhaka in 2012. His paintings have also been featured in Dhaka Art Summit in 2012, Open 17, The International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations in San Servolo Island, Venice, Italy in 2014,The young & Emerging Artist’s Painting Exhibition at the Japanese Embassy in Dhaka in 2015, Affordable Art Fair in Singapore in 2017, Summer Idyll, Agora Gallery, New York, U.S.A in 2019. His second solo painting exhibition Mangrove Portal was at Alliance Française de Dhaka in 2017.
